Role: Head of Projects
Location: Toronto, Ontario
Salary: CAD $190,000 - $195,000 Base + 20-40% Bonus + Benefits

I am currently supporting a confidential search for an experienced Head of Projects to lead a growing Projects function across Canada.

This is a high-profile leadership opportunity for someone who knows how to deliver projects, lead great teams and drive commercial growth.

The remit is broad. You will take ownership of project delivery and financial performance while developing the team, strengthening client relationships and building a strong pipeline of new project opportunities.

For someone coming from a strong General Contractor or project delivery background who is ready for a wider leadership role, this is an excellent opportunity.

The Role

As Head of Projects, you will lead the safe and commercially successful delivery of projects while taking responsibility for the continued growth of the Projects business.

You will have real ownership across people, projects, clients and commercial performance, from identifying opportunities and developing proposals through to successful project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the Projects team, building capability for both current delivery and future growth.

• Oversee the safe, successful and profitable delivery of projects.

• Take ownership of project financial performance, forecasting and commercial results.

• Build a strong pipeline of project opportunities across existing client relationships.

• Identify, develop and convert new project opportunities.

• Lead bids, tenders, proposals and client presentations.

• Build strong relationships with clients, site teams and supply chain partners.

• Ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget and to agreed profit margins.

• Manage project risk across commercial, technical, statutory and health & safety requirements.

• Drive cost efficiencies and effective subcontractor procurement.

• Maintain strong oversight of contracts and commercial agreements.

• Lead project reviews covering performance, financials, risk and safety.

• Contribute to the wider strategy and continued growth of the Projects business.

The Ideal Candidate

I am looking for an established project leader who can combine strong delivery experience with commercial awareness and genuine people leadership.

Ideally, you will bring:

• 8-12+ years of relevant project / construction experience.

• Previous General Contracting experience highly desirable.

• Strong experience leading project teams and developing people.

• A proven track record of delivering multiple projects successfully.

• Strong commercial and financial management experience.

• Experience developing project pipelines and identifying opportunities within existing client relationships.

• Confidence across bids, tenders, proposals and client presentations.

• Strong knowledge of contracts, risk, health & safety and project governance.

• Excellent client and stakeholder management skills.

• The ability to operate at a senior level while remaining close enough to the detail to drive results.

• PMP, CCM and/or LEED AP accreditation would be advantageous.
